Following the Tokyo rally on June 21, the meeting for celebrating 150th anniversary of Communist Manifesto was held in Osaka; the center of Kansai region of Japan, on Sunday, Nov. 29. Under the main slogan "Against the Globarization of Capitalism, Let Communism Reborn Hand in Hand!", About 80 attendance filled up the meeting room. Coming to Osaka from Tokyo, I attended the meeting with JVP activists including comrade Saman. Here's my brief report.
At the beginning of the meeting, Tami Okamoto band sang revolutionary songs in front of Marx, Engels and Karl Schapper; leaders of Communist League. Then, Kiyoshi Inoue, so-called old Bolshevik, represented organizers at the opening speech.
Two professors, Wakio Fujimoto and Minoru Tabata, lectured on very interesting subjects; "Communist Manifesto and Soviet Union" and "Marx and Association."
Saman Priyankara, the representative of JVP (People's Liberation Front - Sri Lanka Committee in Japan), delivered a solidarity message. In the speech, he explained what was & is JVP, and urged our unified action among Japanese communists and leftists hard.
Momo Iida, the representative of the Tokyo rally, described on-going crisis, and emphasized the importance of proletaria internationalism.
Toshiaki Fuji, the representative of Kamanichiro; a union of day laborer, spoke on how urban poor had to endure hardship under economic crisis, and asked us to support them.
Kenichiro Wakita, a member of Takatsuki city assembly, said that it is our duty to reread Communist Manifesto and take lessons from defeats of Japanese leftist groups.
At the end of the meeting, Minoru Nakamura, a member of CECOP, represented organizers at the closing address. He made a point of advancing of the cause of joint action following the success of the meeting. Then all participants sang International.
