THE MURDER OF AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF THE PEOPLE'S LIBERATION FRONT
The coordinating officer of a minister of the People's Alliance (PA) govt. with his brother has assaulted and killed an active member of the People's Liberation Front for political reasons. Herewith is a report regarding the incident.
Information about the Victim:
Full name: Dulwala Gallange Gedara Dassanayake
(D.G.Dassanayake)
Address: 205, Galkoriya, Pahala Ellewela,
Ellewela, Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka.
Family Information: Married and father of 3 children.
Wife: Mrs.K.G.Rupika Vijithani Ranadara.
Children: (I), D.G.Pradeep Kumara Dassanayake
Age: 07
Studying in the 2nd year.
(II), D.G.Madhushan Dassanayake.
Age: 05
Studying in the 1st year.
(III), D.G.Nadee Kumari Dassanayake.
Age: 3 1/2
Political status: Mr.D.G. Dassanayake was actively engaged with party work as a member of the People's Liberation Front in the Dimbulagala Local Council area, Polonnaruwa district. He was also an activist of the Socialist Farmers' Union.
Incident:
Mr. Dassanayake was on his way home after a short visit to one of his friend's on the 2nd of March. The time was about 4:30 pm, when two individuals travelling on a Pjero got down from the vehicle and assaulted Mr.Dassanayake mercilessly, thereafter took him into the vehicle and drove away. Later at about 7:30 pm. the abductors handed over their victim to the Aralaganvila Police station with a false complaint.
Aralaganwila Police had admitted him to the Aralaganwila hospital and then transferred to Polonnaruwa base hospital. On the 3rd of March Mr.Dassanayake died.
Medical report regarding the death describes the reasons of death as "the damage to internal organs due to assault."
Information about the attackers:
(I) Name: Maddegoda Liyanage Dharmasiri (D.L.Darmasiri)
Address: 2nd Mile Port, Manampitiya East
He is the coodination officer to Mr.Mithripala Sirisena, Mahaweli
minister and MP of the PA govt. for Polonnaruwa district.
(II)Name: Meddegoda Liyanage Nandasiri (M.L. Nandasiri)
Elder brother of M.L.Dharmasiri
The vehicle used in the incident:
A Pajero with registration No:32-5837 belonging to the Mhaweli ministry.
The two suspects and the above vehicle were taken to custody by the Arataganvila Police and produced before the Polonnaruwa Magistrate on the 10th of March. On that day the suspects were remanded. The case will be called next on 24th of March.
There are several eyewitnesses to the incident. They are prepared to give evidence in the court. But they are threatened by the political allies and sponsors of the two suspects.

This assassination is clearly politically motivated. Therefore we are forced to allert the international community regarding this situation.
